When did this all start?
This blog was originally a Xanga. (You can check out the first two Xangas here: Acraine and SurfinChristDude). I got tired of feeling restricted by Xanga’s normal user, and since I was already paying for hosting in order to serve several other sites, I went ahead and transferred both Xangas over to Wordpress. The only thing that was really keeping me on Xanga was the community, and that eventually dissipated over time. This is now the site.
What tools do you use to build this website? How does all of this work?
I am using primarily HTML-kit to edit and build most of the code. I use Photoshop CS2 for all of my image editing. Hopefully soon I’ll be able to afford Dreamweaver and Flash. We’ll see.
This site is running on the Wordpress 2.0.2 engine. (Yes, I am fully aware that it’s not the latest version. Stop emailing me.) You can get this amazing open-source tool at the wordpress website.
The theme this site is based off of is a modified version of the theme “Fresh 0.1″. You can also get that at the wordpress website.
The posts on this site are divided into several categories to make organization and searching a bit easier. Any post is likely to be categorized into one or more of the following:
* Musings
* Modern Life
* Geekiness
* Music
* Memories
What does the create42 after your name in the URL mean?
The “42″ in the title is a reference to Douglas Adams’ novel / five-part trilogy, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. The “Create” part of it was dreamed up by one of my best friends, Matt Peterson. We’d been wanting to put together a site for a while to document our insanely awesome lives, so we finally decided on the domain “create42.com”. It sums up our love of life, creativity, and Douglas Adams in one go.
This site looks all weird. Things are all thin-looking and crazy.
Well, sounds to me like we have a case of the crazy-silly internet user. Grab the best and fastest browser in the world, Firefox, here.
